Artist’s Bio
Abe found photography before he became a teenager. He took his first photography class as a freshman in high school and was hooked. He never stopped seeing the world through a lens. During the summer, when he was 16, he worked at photo studio in Cincinnati. That's when he realized "Holy Sh*t!! You can make money...taking photos?!?!?" He graduated from the Commercial Photography program at Ohio University in 2001. Fresh out of school Abe moved to Boston. It didn't take him long to find his way in to the crew of Gary Land. Abe has been the first assistant for Gary Land on numerous national and global print campaigns for clients such as Nike, Adidas, Coca-Cola, Gillette, and others. After years of working together they started GLP, a creative agency that's brought together elite artists in photography, retouching, design, and video. They also own a rental studio in Boston where they live and work.

Why I needed the Pro-8Air for this shot:
A person's face isn't intended to move this way. To persuade it we enlisted the help of a high powered leaf blower. It's amazing what 215 mph of air can do to a face. When I was a kid using my parents leaf blower I would always turn it around and point it at my face to see what kind of faces i could make. I wanted to recreate that in a more surreal form. My goal was for the viewer to not quite know what was going on, but know it didn't look right. The Pro-8 helped me get the shot I needed by having the fastest recycle time I've ever worked with. When 215 mph of wind is blowing on a face it creates a quickly changing landscape. To capture the best shot you need to shoot quickly. When you see a shot you have to take it, and you can't wait for a pack to finish recycling. With the Pro-8 I didn't need to wait.
