There are two ways to register for the Profoto Assistants Photo Contest

1: As an assistant entering photographs and wishing to vote on entries.
2: As a photographer or other interested party only wishing to vote.

Photographic assistants must register to enter images. You need to do this only once. After registering, you may enter up to four images. You may also enter a sequence of up to four images (called a set), and you may enter up to five sets. Submissions can be made once per month.

Each submission must be accompanied by a single image of a “behind the scenes” shot of the Pro8 pack on set, showing the packs in use with the subject or background visible. Images created during one of the Pro8 Assistants events we are sponsoring do not need the behind the scenes image as we provided the lighting.

Register and submit your photos now!

Each photograph or series of photographs must be accompanied by a brief statement describing how the Pro-8a Air 2400 or Pro-8a Air 1200 enabled you to produce the image(s). Photos should be jpeg only, Quality 10, 1200 pixels on the long edge. If your photo is chosen as a winner, you must be able to supply a high-res image approximately 9x12-inches (22.8 x30.5 cm) @ 300 dpi upon request.

All photos with models visible must have a signed model release available. The winning photographs may/will be used by Profoto in print and on-line for until December 31st, 2010. Contest ends April 30, 2010, with voting for final monthly winner in May, 2010.

Photographs characterized as inappropriate by Profoto are not allowed. All information supplied during registration and image submission is subject to verification. By submitting photographs to this contest, assistants assume full responsibility for content and usage and release Profoto its employees and all agents harmless from liability.

Registration for voters is easy! You only have to register once and then can log in as often as you like to vote.

Photographs will be judged as follows:

Each month photographs will be rated by peers on ProfotoAssistant.com. Visitors and assistants can vote for as many images (or sets of images) as they wish, but are allowed only one vote per image/set per month. (Whether a set consists of one image or a sequence of photographs it is treated as a singular entry and gets one vote.) The top ten (10) sets/images receiving the most votes each month will go before a panel of judges for review and final voting based on:

• Aesthetic qualities - 1/3 of overall score
  
• Technical execution - 1/3 of overall score
• How the photo illustrates one of the Pro-8a Air features - 1/3 of overall score

These photographs will be judged after the end of the voting month. Each monthly winner will be announced on the 15th of the following month. All monthly winners are automatically entered for grand prize. Assistants can only win the monthly prize once, but are also eligible for special prizes, including honorable mentions and highest-viewed photos.

Winners:

Grand Prize is US$10,000 in Profoto equipment for delivery in home country. 2nd and 3rd place winners receive US$5,000 and US$2,500 in equipment.

No cash will be given in lieu of prizes.
