Our very first assistants event was in NYC at Drive In 24 Studio on February 26, 2008. To say the least, it was amazing.
New York City showed up to fill up the event to capacity. It was all elbows and smiles as the crowd of assistants networked and checked out the Pro-8 in action. Fight Night! DLSRs versus the Pro-8a Air. It was all about speed and the amazing stopping action of 1/12,000 sec flash duration.
There were two "sets" - one was a real boxing ring, complete with real boxers who fought two rounds and a super-hot break dance troupe.
and the boxers had it out for two rounds while cameras sporting Profoto Air remote triggering units blazed. Behind the ring were 18 Pro-8a power packs powering heads in the ceiling around the ring.
On the other side, as we made our way through the crowd, we had the stylin' footwork from the BBoyz and Bgirlz breakdancing under an 8 Foot Profoto Umbrella with a kicker. See Richard Patterson's video (warning - rapid flashing may cause seizures):
Thanks, one and all, for coming out and spending the evening with the Pro-8a Air. We've seen your comments and we're sorry it's so damn fast :( We can't help ourselves - we just have to throw it on a Canon or Nikon and let 'er rip at 10 fps.
